For people who have experienced institutional child sexual abuse
The National Redress Scheme was implemented in response to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. Eligible survivors of institutional child* sexual abuse can apply to the scheme if the responsible institution (for example, a Catholic Diocese or a Religious Order) has joined the scheme. Applications can be made any time before 30 June 2027. *A child is a person between the ages of 0 to 17 years of age. That means you were under the age of 18 years when the abuse occurred

Direct Personal Response
Have you received an offer of redress and requested a direct personal response? When you feel ready to do so, you will need to make the first contact with the person nominated to arrange your direct personal response. Healing and Support Service
The process of recounting past trauma for the purpose of the National Redress Scheme can pose a challenge for many people dealing with the trauma of abuse. The Diocese of Parramatta offers a therapeutic case management service for those affected by childhood sexual abuse or any other abuse perpetrated by a person or persons working for the church in the Diocese of Parramatta.
